The High Fantasy film genre, often called epic fantasy, is defined by its setting in a completely fictional, parallel, or "secondary" world with its own distinct rules and history, combined with grand, world-altering narrative stakes. Unlike low fantasy - which introduces magical elements into our familiar, real Earth - high fantasy films completely immerse the viewer in a self-contained universe where magic, mythical creatures, and unique lore are part of the natural fabric of reality.
