Why watch this? This
quality historical drama benefits from stellar performances.
Plot Summary: Dick
Cheney arose from an unassuming bureaucratic Washington insider
to becoming one of the most powerful vice presidents in American
history, largely motivated by his wife's ambitions. This follows
his decades-long career, navigating various political positions
and leveraging his position in the George W. Bush administration
to quietly reshape the country and the globe.
Dad's Preview:
This compelling biopic film covers the life of a man brutal in
his efficiency, relentless in his silent confidence. It's a
lesson in how truly weak some American leaders are, especially
those whose family fortune's insure their election. This
portrayal by Christian Bale cements at Number 2 of "Greatest
Actor of His Generation" (Daniel Day-Lewis is No. 1). He
literally becomes Cheney, thanks to weight gain, a masterful
make-up application (which won the Oscar) and his own immersion
into the character. Sam Rockwell also embodies the jovially
clueless George W. Bush we all remember - it's eerie. This film
helps us to see behind the 2nd Bush years a bit, and gives us
real insights on just how powerful, and opportunistic, Dick
Cheney conducted his political career.`
