"You're just scared
that without the search you won't know who you are. Who is Jeff
Harriman, if he's not the guy looking for Diane? Can you really
walk away from finally knowing the answer?" – Barney
Cousins to Jeff about Diane
Why watch this? To
be terrified at the possibility that this can happen to anyone.
Plot Summary: On
vacation, Jeff's girlfriend, Diane, mysteriously vanishes from a
gas station without a trace. Three years later, still consumed
by her disappearance, Jeff continues his relentless search,
despite having entered a new relationship with Rita. This
obsession eventually leads to a tense encounter with the
disturbed individual responsible for Diane's abduction.

Dad's Preview: Perhaps this
film was too much for audiences. It is disturbing. It's
not about a monster, overgrown beast or supernatural
being - chasing us through the night. It is the
kidnapping of an innocent woman by a mentally deranged
man, and he gets away with it. There is no trial or
justice, just loss, never-ending grief and the anguish
of not knowing what happened. The actor's performances
are great, and none better than Jeff Bridges as the
abductor. His mannerisms honestly give you the willies.
This film will always be compared to the excellent 1988
Dutch film, with the same name, that inspired it. |
