Why watch this? Most
people feel helpless against a paralyzed system. Some take

Plot Summary:
In a small Missouri town, a grieving mother, frustrated by the
lack of progress in her daughter's unsolved murder case, takes
matters into her own hands. She rents three billboards and puts
up controversial messages challenging the local police chief to
find the killer. This sparks a bitter feud within the community,
forcing the town's residents and the police department to
confront their own flaws and responsibilities in the search for
justice.
Dad's Preview:
Frances McDormand clearly picks the films she wants to
make. She's a force of determination here as a mother, Mildred,
whose daughter's rape and murder remains unsolved. She rents
three billboards just outside of town that say, "Raped While Dying", "And
Still No Arrests?", and "How Come, Sheriff Willougby?"
Her pain is displayed in her signs, and she certainly pisses off
local law enforcement. Woody Harrelson is
excellent as the sheriff whose patience with her is commendable. The surprise
performance is Sam Rockwell
as a racist, homophobic deputy police officer, who is more than
ready to punch Mildred in the face.
