Why watch this? Before big rigs, trucking was a lot more dangerous.

Plot Summary: This highway drama follows two hardworking brothers trying to survive as independent long-haul truck drivers. After a terrible highway accident changes their lives, one brother is forced to take a job at a larger transport company run by an old friend. Complications arise when the owner's wife develops an intense obsession and sets off a high-stakes legal battle..

Dad's Preview: This noir thriller starts out as an exposé on the hard-scrapple life of truckers in the late 1930's. Their conditions are tenuous at best, and often deadly. Then the film shifts gears and becomes a full-on noir crime flick featuring a devious femme fatale, who frames a man she loves because he won't bend to her will. I thought the film's transition worked well, and it will keep your interest thanks to great performances by Humphrey Bogart and Ida Lupino. You'll have no problem staying awake for this film's duration.
