Plot Summary:
Jamal Malik is an 18-year-old from the Mumbai slums, who becomes
a contestant on India's "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?". As he
gets closer to winning the grand prize, he is arrested under
suspicion of cheating. Jamal recounts his life experiences
through flashbacks, revealing how his past shaped his knowledge
and led him to this unexpected moment.

This critically acclaimed film follows a kind of rags-to-riches
story set around India's version of game show Who Wants To Be
A Millionaire. A young contestant wins, is immediately
accused of cheating and is immediately interrogated by the
police. Through a series of flashbacks, he explains
how he knew each of the answers. This takes us through numerous
adventures, many around the slums of Mumbai. It won a record 8 Oscars
including Best Picture, Director, Screenplay, and Original
