"Sure, this guy
deserves killing, but you can't kick this hornet's nest like
everyone on Earth is bulletproof." – John Constantine, about
Darkseid
Why watch this?
This an excellent, emotional conclusion to DC's 2013 16-part
Justice League story arc.
Plot Summary:
Following a devastating war against Darkseid, Earth is left in
ruins and the Justice League decimated. Years later, the
surviving heroes, led by a depowered Superman, band together
with unlikely allies to mount a final, desperate assault on
Apokolips to reclaim their planet. This unlikely alliance faces
not only Darkseid and his forces but also the consequences of a
failed past attempt to defeat the galactic tyrant.
Dad's Preview:
Starting way back in 2013, Warner/DC reset the DC universe with
Justice League: The
Flashpoint Paradox. All things come to a head here when
Superman organizes a strike against the war planet of Apokolips
and his nemesis Darkseid. Earth's defenders, however, are not
prepared and the loss is world changing. In this film, no hero
is safe, and I'll admit it was hard for me to see some of them
brutally die. For as much as I did not like the overt, gory
violence (or the unnecessary bad language), I still have to
state that this animated film is excellent. It's just not for
young children. The voice cast is great, and the ending is
perfect. Let's hope the next DC animated reset can hold a candle
to this one.
