the log." - Harry Callahan
Why watch this?
Harry gets a lady partner, and she's got a lot to prove.
Plot Summary: After
his latest act of excessive force gets him temporarily
reassigned, inspector "Dirty" Harry Callahan is thrown back into
action when a heavily armed terrorist group steals military
weapons and kidnaps the mayor of San Francisco. To take down the
militants, Callahan is grudgingly partnered with a rookie female
officer who must quickly prove her capabilities. Together, they
track the heavily armed rebels to a deserted, historical island
prison for a dangerous showdown.

Dad's Preview:
The third film in the Dirty Harry film archives
does some things better and some worse. The criminals in
this action crime film seem one-dimensional - a band of
hippie assassins lead by a murdering lunatic - that's
the worse. On the better side, it was a great
decision to tackle the women's liberation topic head on.
The mayor wants more women on the force, but an
old-timer like Harry isn't gonna play their public
relations game. His new female partner is gonna have to
prove she can cut it as an Inspector. Their chemistry
works as her persistence and capabilities pay off.
Little did we know that perky Tyne Daly would go on to
play a cop for eight years on TV's
Cagney & Lacy. This film also benefits from a
better than average script. It's a good cop film. |
