Why watch this? The
death of a spouse is unbearable. Loss can play tricks on your
mind.
Plot Summary: Dr.
Joe Darrow, a grieving doctor, is seemingly contacted by his
deceased wife through her patients' near-death experiences. His
wife, also a doctor, was killed in a bus accident on a
humanitarian mission in South America. To discover the truth,
Joe must decide whether to embrace the possibility of an
afterlife or to rely on his rational, scientific beliefs.

Dad's Preview: It is tricky
business in filmmaking to show the world beyond
the grave in a benevolent manner. This film
gives us plenty of strange noises, terminal
patients acting oddly, and images of dragonflies
everywhere. It eerie, but something is reaching
out to our good doctor. Costner is great as a
man of science pushed to the edge of sanity. Is
it all in his grief-stricken mind? The film's
conclusion answers that question, in an ending
that will leave you sobbing. |
