Dad's Preview:
This British, and very intense, modern mystery keeps you
guessing. It's characters are complicated, and quite
flawed - all of them. I found it hard to discern who the
"beast" is among them. Is it the young girl who stabbed
a fellow student with scissors in her primary school? Is
it the handsome lad who poaches rabbits and has a
troubled past? Is it the girl's over-bearing, snob of a
Mum? I discovered Jessie Buckley in the film
Hamnet
(2025), and here she again proves she can carry the
workload - there is just something about her and I hang
on every word, every leer, every hint of a smile. As
with all good mysteries, the ending is quite a sock,
whether you see it coming or not... and it's well worth
it. |
