"As a man, I'm flesh and
blood, I can be ignored, I can be destroyed;
but as a symbol...
as a symbol I can be incorruptible, I can be everlasting." –
Bruce Wayne
Why watch this?
It's a new film direction for the Caped Crusader. Wow. It set a
new bar.
Plot Summary: After
a childhood tragedy, Bruce Wayne travels the world to master
ways to fight injustice. He returns to Gotham City, now consumed
by crime and corruption, and creates a new persona, Batman, to
battle the underworld. With the help of allies, Batman faces
threats and works to save the city from those who wish to
destroy it.
Dad's Preview:
This new Batman origin film lacks the occasional silliness of
the earlier Batman installments from Burton and Schumacher...
which is a good thing. It's darker, grittier, and our hero is
very scary and threatening. This origin story is centers on how Bruce became the Batman. His first foe is the
fear-inducing Scarecrow. Bale plays Bruce Wayne/Batman to perfection. Neeson is
also excellent as Wayne's
initial mentor, then worthy adversary.
