Slasher Horror features a psychopathic killer, often masked, who stalks and graphically murders a group of young people, typically teenagers, using bladed weapons.

Splatter Horror (aka Torture Porn) explores the concept of human mortality and displays a fascination with the theatricality of mutilation along with the vulnerability of the human body. It revels in gore as an art form and is generally characterized by choppy camerawork.
