"This show is not
gonna save your theater! You're at rock bottom, pal!" –
Eddie, to Buster Moon
Why watch this? This
zippy musical stomp is more fun than it should be.
Plot Summary:
In a city of
anthropomorphic animals, a koala theater owner, Buster Moon,
struggling with a dilapidated theater, stages a grand singing
competition to save his business. A group of talented misfits
and dreamers, each facing personal challenges, audition and try
to win the substantial cash prize advertised, though it's
actually much less than promised due to a typo. As the
competition unfolds, the contestants navigate their individual
struggles, building unexpected bonds and discovering their inner
strength through the power of music.

Dad's Preview:
There is no better judge of children's films than their parents.
Mom and Dad have to sit through hours of sugar-coated silliness.
Most are simply geared for infantile over-stimulation, but a few
of higher quality rise to the top. Sing, on the surface,
looks over-stuffed with characters running amok, but it really
has a lot to sing about. The central theme is that most of us
have dreams, but life almost always gets in the way. Failure to
act may be caused by a house full of kids, a lazy boyfriend, a
shady father's business demands, or a lack of confidence.
However, if you stick it out and stay true to your desires, you
just might find your voice. The animation is superb, the voice
cast stellar, and the entire movie is a quick-steppin' joy. So
cut loose and sing! |
