Plot Summary:
A group of Cuban refugees are seeking a better life in America
during the 1980 Mariel boatlift. Among them are Juan Raul Perez,
a political prisoner hoping to reunite with his estranged wife,
and Dottie Perez, a free-spirited woman with dreams of Hollywood
and American pop culture. Due to a clerical error and their
shared surname, they are mistakenly registered as a married
couple, leading them to form a makeshift family with other
unrelated individuals to secure a sponsor.

Dad's Preview:
When you watch certain films, it's clear from the start that one
actor "owns it". The amazing Marisa Tomei dominates
this hidden gem as a
Cuban refugee doing all she can to pull together a faux family
to get into America. After all, she has a crush on
John Wayne and can't wait to meet him. Her personality and internal spirit are fuses
burning hot. We also have a great supporting cast including
Alfred Molina and Anjelica Huston. This spicy Cubano offering is
a sexy, warm, wonderful gem to enjoy. |
