Why watch this?
Godzilla awakens on a remote Pacific island, and he wants some
seafood.
Plot Summary:
Ryota and his companions, after a shipwreck, find themselves on
a remote island controlled by the nefarious Red Bamboo
organization. These villains enslave the locals and also employ
a giant lobster-like monster called Ebirah to deter any attempts
at escape. The heroes, with the help of an escaped native girl,
stumble upon a slumbering Godzilla and hatch a plan to awaken
him to fight Ebirah, rescue the islanders, and thwart the Red
Bamboo's schemes.

Dad's Preview: This is the first Godzilla film whose setting is a barren
Pacific island. It is often often
overlooked, but it has some great monster-battle moments. BigG
battles a giant condor, a squadron of jet planes, and
Ebirah, a massive lobster. There's even a guest
appearance by Japan's protector, Mothra. Kumi
Mizuno, as island girl Daiyo, portrays a surprisingly strong
woman for kaiju films of this time period. |
