"You find a glimmer of
happiness in this world, there's always someone who wants to
destroy it." -
J. M. Barrie
Why watch this?
Pre-Pirates, Johnny Depp had a knack for picking wonderful
film roles.
Plot Summary: The
story explores the life of author J.M. Barrie and the real
relationships and events that served as the inspiration for his
most famous work, Peter Pan. After a flop with his latest play,
Barrie finds inspiration in the platonic friendship he develops
with a widowed mother, Sylvia, and her four young sons. Their
imaginative games ignite Barrie's creative spark, leading him to
write a play about children who refuse to grow up, a work that
would become Peter Pan.

Dad's Preview:
Johnny
Depp portrays J. M. Barrie, a writer and playwright. This film has a magical quality to it, and I recommend it
to parents. It reminds us to value our imagination, and that it
helps us cope with some of the pains associated with reality.
Young Freddie Highmore is wonderful in the role of Peter
Davies. |
