"If you've ever seen the
look on somebody's face the day they finally get a job...
they
look like they could fly." - Dave, as President Mitchell
Why watch this?
This harkens back to an classic film about a Senator named Mr.
Smith.
Plot Summary: This
charming political comedy centers on an ordinary man who
happens to look exactly like the President of the United
States. When the real President suffers a health
emergency, his look-alike is thrust into the role,
leading to unexpected and humorous situations. His
compassionate nature and integrity allow him to make a
genuine positive impact while navigating the
complexities of Washington politics.

Dad's Preview:
Kevin Kline is excellent as a regular guy conscripted to "fill
in" as the real President who
secretly lies in a coma.
At first he plays along, dutifully doing what he's told, but he gradually
allows more of his own personality to shine through. He actually proposes
good ideas - for a change. This lands him in hot water
with the narcissistic Chief of Staff, nastily portrayed by Frank
Langella. This film is warm, romantic,
inspiring, and easy to curl up to. |
